In the fall of 1999, Phoenix set out from Livingston, Montana with his two horses and his dog into the Rocky Mountain wilderness in search of meaning. During his year-long journey south, he found a spiritual connection with the land and the people who live in harmony with it. He returned with a new-found purpose, and an allegiance and responsibility towards the people and places that healed him and gave him hope. afterbuffalo is a statement that in the blink of an eye, a mere handful of generations, the world has been changed forever. It is a name for our current condition, how humans have treated the earth and each other. It demands accountability, and demonstrates not only our ability to destroy, but our power to create with purpose, hope and meaning. It is a reminder that we can find new ways to connect, just as we did before the changes came… In his latest musical incarnation, singer/songwriter Phoenix continues his artistic journey through the pacific northwest. afterbuffalo is a melding of old and new, bringing together unique musicians from very different backgrounds. The result is an expression of both diversity and unity, and a celebration of the human experience.
